About the album

The Dawn of the Black Hearts is an infamous bootleg album by the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem, released in 1994. It features a live recording from the band's concert in 1990 at the Sarpsborg venue in Norway, shortly before the death of vocalist Per "Dead" Ohlin. The album is notable for its raw, chaotic sound, capturing the early, intense energy of Mayhem's live performances. It also includes the infamous moment when Dead's self-inflicted wounds were visible during the show, which added to the dark mystique surrounding the band's legacy. Although unauthorized, The Dawn of the Black Hearts has become a cult artifact among black metal fans due to its historical significance and controversial content.
