About the debut album

"Metal Up Your Ass" is the original working title of Metallica’s debut album, which was eventually released in 1983 as Kill 'Em All. The band intended the title to reflect their aggressive sound and rebellious attitude, and the proposed cover art featured a hand emerging from a toilet holding a dagger. However, their record label found it too controversial, prompting the band to change the title. Despite not being officially released under that name, "Metal Up Your Ass" became an iconic phrase among fans and is closely associated with Metallica's early thrash metal roots.
